I let my soil feel dry to the touch for about 1-2 days and then water (at which point the soil stays moist for about 5 days or so, then has a 1-2 day dry out period, then I water again) 3. never keep a bonsai in a window sil, they can be kept close by on a table but never in a sil, there is too much heat/cold fluctuations.
